Customizing the interface
Everything here is in unless another place is named. The option-by-option reference is Setting up preferences; this page is about the handful of settings that actually change how the program feels to use.
Light or dark
Dark theme on the Display Area tab switches the whole window — menus, lists, dialogs — to a dark palette. The movie card is a separate template, so pick a dark one to match: Standard Dark, Dark or Indian Dark from . The virtual shelf has a dark background of its own.
Making things bigger
The single most useful adjustment, and there are three separate controls because there are three separate things on screen:
| The movie card | Ctrl+Num + and Ctrl+Num - in the main window, or the Scale slider on the Display Area tab. Ctrl+Num * resets it. |

| Everything else | Windows display scaling. The program follows it, including a second monitor at a different scale. |
The Large Print and High Contrast card templates exist for the same reason and are worth trying before fighting with fonts.
The movie list
- Additional columns chooses which fields are shown as columns and in what order; the arrows move a column up and down. Column widths are set by dragging and are remembered.
- Display the original movie title shows original titles in the list instead of local ones.
- Move articles to the end of the title turns The Terminator into Terminator, The so that sorting puts it under T. The program offers to convert the existing titles when you switch it on.
- Multiple movie selection lets you select several movies at once — needed for group editing, playlists and copying files.
- Highlight marked movies paints movies carrying a personal mark in a colour of your choosing. It slows the list down a little, which is why it is optional.
Panels and the toolbar
Ctrl+Z moves the list between the left side and the top. Hide toolbar removes the toolbar for people who work from the menus and the keyboard. hides the card panel. Splitters between the panels are draggable and the sizes are remembered.
Personal marks
Your own tags, defined on the Custom fields tab as Personal marks. Each gets a name and, optionally, a highlight colour. They can be set on a movie from the right-click menu, filtered on from , and grouped by. Useful for the things no standard field covers: “lend to Dad”, “needs a better copy”, “from Mum's collection”.
Language
The Language tab of Preferences lists eighteen interface languages. The change takes effect immediately.
Preferences are stored per Windows user, not in the collection file, so they follow you between databases. Defaults at the bottom of the dialog puts everything back.
