Importing a collection
If your collection already exists somewhere else, do not retype it. All My Movies reads the databases of twelve other cataloging programs and media centers, plus spreadsheets and text files.
If one of these programs is installed on this computer, All My Movies notices it on startup and offers to import its collection right away. The offer is made once; you can always run the import yourself from the menu.
From another cataloging program
and pick the program. Then point the file dialog at the file it names:

What comes across depends on what the other program stored, but normally: titles and original titles, year, country, genres, director and cast, plot, rating, personal rating, media type and label, the path to the video file, the seen mark, and covers. TV series arrive as series with their episodes. Whatever is missing can be filled in afterwards in one pass — see Batch updating movie details.
Media centers keep their library open while they are running. Stop Kodi, Plex or Emby before importing, or copy the database file somewhere and import the copy.
From a spreadsheet or a text file
reads .xls and .xlsx; reads delimited text.
Both open the same kind of window: your file on the left, the list of All My Movies fields on the right. Click a field name, then click the column header that holds it. At least the movie title must be assigned; everything else is optional. Rows and columns you do not need can be deleted from the preview before importing.
A spreadsheet with nothing but titles is enough. Import the titles, then run Batch updating movie details to fetch the rest from an online database.
From your own mobile export
restores a collection that was previously sent to a phone or tablet, either from our server or from the local amm.zip file. This is the counterpart of the mobile export described in Exporting.
From another All My Movies collection

All imports are mass operations, so they need a licence or an active trial — see Trial, free mode and licence. Import into an empty database whenever you can: it is much easier to throw the result away and start again than to unpick a bad import from a collection you have already worked on. Make a backup first in any case.
