Sharing your collection

Sooner or later somebody asks what you have. There are four sensible answers, depending on whether they want to read it, keep it, or use it.

A web page

Tools › Export to… › Export to HTML… turns the collection — or whatever the list is currently filtered down to — into a set of HTML pages with covers, cards and an index. Upload it to a web site, or put it in a shared folder. There are dozens of layout templates to choose from, and the export can be limited to the fields you actually want to publish.

Export to CHM packs the same pages into a single Windows help file: one file to send, no folder of images to keep together. See Exporting.

A printed list or a PDF

F7 opens the report window. Pick one of the sixteen templates, preview it, and either print it or save it as PDF or HTML. A PDF is the right thing to email to somebody who just wants to look. See Printing.

On a phone

Tools › Export to… › Export to the mobile device… uploads the collection to our server, and the free All My Movies apps for Android and iOS download it. Handy in a shop when you cannot remember whether you already own something. Details in Exporting.

The collection itself

If the other person also uses All My Movies, send them the .amm file — that is the whole collection, cards, covers and all. Database › Backup… writes a copy wherever you like. On their side, they can open it directly, or pull selected movies into their own collection with Appending from another database.

Export is never restricted: it works during the trial, in free mode and with a licence. See Trial, free mode and licence.
