Database tasks

Everything in this chapter is about the collection file itself rather than about the movies inside it: where it lives, how to get data into it, how to keep a copy that survives a dead disk, and how to keep other people out of it.

One collection is one .amm file. You can keep as many as you like — films and home video, yours and your father's — and switch between them from Database › Reopen.

If you are setting up for the first time, the order that saves the most work is: create the database, import whatever catalog you already have, then scan the drives for the video files that are not in it yet.
