Appending from another database

This is how two All My Movies collections become one, or how a few movies move from one to another — when you inherit a friend's catalog, or when the “films” and “series” databases you started separately turn out to belong together.

  1. Open the collection that should receive the movies.
  2. Choose Database › Append from… and select the other .amm file.
  3. A list of everything in the source database appears. Tick the movies you want. Invert selection helps when it is easier to untick the few you do not need; the list can be sorted by title or by date modified.
  4. Two options decide what happens to the source and to the numbering:
    • Delete movies from the source database — moves instead of copies.
    • Do not import Movie Number field value — leave this on unless both collections use movie numbers and you know they do not clash; otherwise you get duplicate numbers.
  5. Confirm. Cards arrive complete, with covers, screenshots, cast, episodes and personal marks.

Directories are merged by name: a genre or a person that exists in both collections stays one entry. Cast members that exist only in the source are created in the target.

Appending changes the current database and cannot be undone. Make a backup first. Like the other mass operations, it needs a licence or an active trial — see Trial, free mode and licence.
