Opening a database
The program reopens the last collection you used, so most of the time there is nothing to do. When there is:
| Database › Open… | Ctrl+O. The usual file dialog; pick an
.amm file. |
| Database › Reopen | The collections you opened recently, most recent first. The fastest way to switch between two. |
| Double-click in Explorer | The installer associates .amm with the program. |
Opening another collection closes the current one; changes are saved as you make them, so there is nothing to confirm.
When a database will not open
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The file is locked by another program | Another copy of All My Movies still has it open (check the task manager), or a backup or cloud-sync tool is holding it. Close them and try again. |
| Opened in read-only mode | The folder does not allow writing — a CD, a network share without permissions, or a Windows-protected folder. Copy the file somewhere you own and open the copy. It can also be the deliberate protection described in Password protection. |
| A database error, or the collection looks damaged | Run ; it repairs the file in most cases. See Compressing the database. |
| The path contains unsupported characters | The Windows database engine cannot open such a path. Rename the folder using Latin letters, or switch the language for non-Unicode programs in Windows regional settings. |
| All My Movies cannot start at all | The Windows data access components (ADO) failed. Run
sfc /scannow from an administrator command prompt and restart
the computer. |
