Media types
What the film is on: DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD, a file on the hard drive, VHS if you still have a shelf of them. .
The list is yours to shape. Add creates a type, Delete removes it, Merge joins two that mean the same thing. The value is set on the Media info tab of the movie card, where a button next to the field opens this directory directly.
Why it is worth filling in
- Grouping by media type separates the discs from the files — two rather different halves of most collections.
- The Show drop-down filters by it, so “show me only the Blu-rays” is one click.
- Statistics breaks the collection down by media type, which is how you find out that you own more DVDs than you thought.
The type says what kind of carrier it is; media location says where that carrier lives; media label says which particular disc it is. All three are separate fields and all three are useful once the collection is big.
