Media locations

Where the thing physically is: Shelf in the hall, Blue binder, Box in the attic, NAS. It is a plain list of your own places, and it is the field that turns “I own this” into “I can find this”.

Directories › Media locations opens the list. Add creates an entry, Delete removes the selected ones, and Merge in the right-click menu joins two entries that mean the same place.

The value is set per movie on the Media info tab of the card, where a small button opens this directory so a missing place can be added on the spot.

Setting it for a whole shelf at once takes seconds: select all the movies on that shelf in the list, open the card in group editing mode, set Location, confirm.

What it gives you

Do not confuse it with Media label, which is the identity of the disc itself (its volume name or the number you wrote on it). Location is where it lives; label is which one it is.
